Spier Wine Estate, one of the country’s most famous winelands destinations, is an expanse of vivid green lawns and vineyards, dotted with whitewashed buildings and willow trees. The resort particularly lends itself to large groups and families, as there is no shortage of spacious lawns for children to run wild.
The hotel is itself unique in the area; there is a distinct village feel to the rows of earth-hued, southern European style buildings, with tree-lined walkways and channels of gushing water.
“Spier is a fantastic wine estate hotel that caters for the entire family, there is so much to do on the estate with lots of fun activities for the kids and restaurants and wine tasting for the adults. This is a great option for families visiting the Cape Winelands. "
Staying at Spier
The rooms incorporate a distinctly rustic décor, with dark wood and pale walls. The suite, with its zebra striped cushions and wood-branch table bases, is airy and light, and has a view of the vineyards. Rooms are built around six private courtyards, each with swimming pools. Garden terrace rooms face inward toward the pools, and each ground floor room opens onto a porch with wicker furniture. Golf carts are available to transport guests to and from their rooms.
Spier has the unmistakeable ambience of a resort, with its generous space, pools, conference centre, amphitheatre, cellar, several restaurants, picnic areas and craft market. The eagle encounters centre is a noteworthy feature of the estate, providing guests and day visitors with the opportunity of interacting with several predatory bird species (a great diversion for children).
