A beautifully authentic safari lodge, Plains Camp consists of four luxury explorer-style tents with en-suite bathrooms, and hot running water, and great home comforts, with the bonus of the African Wilderness on your doorstep. The safari lodge overlooks the spectacular Timbavati plain. The best place to spot game at the lodge is from the refreshing private plunge pool.
A generator and a back-up battery system power overhead fans and 24 hour lighting. The generator system can be used to re-charge camera batteries at specific times. The lodge also has a communal lounge and dining area with an outdoor fireplace.
“The walking safari at Plains Camp and the sleep-out was amongst the most amazing safari experiences I have ever had. Falling asleep at the sleep-out with the noise of the African bush in the background was unbelievable."
Safari at Plains Camp
Each morning guests will begin their day with coffee and rusks, and then leave for a morning bush walk tracking animals and learning about the environment. Walks are tailored to guests’ fitness and personal interest.
After returning to the camp, brunch and time to relax underneath the tree shade will provide the perfect break between morning and afternoon safaris. Afternoon tea is then served, followed by either a walking safari or game drive with sun downers.
Accommodation at Plains Tented Camp is in explorer-style tents in an acacia knobthorn thicket.
The tented rooms offer en-suite facilities overlooking the open plains.
Guests wanting to enjoy a unique experience will be able to walk out to our “Sleep Outs” on elevated wooden platforms (weather permitting).
This is the only place in the Kruger National Park offering this unusual feature. Guests will leave Plains Camp in the late afternoon and arrive at the platforms in the early evening carrying a lightweight rucksack containing a change of clothes and refreshments.
Explore the wild Kruger bush with walking safaris and game drives from this unforgettable location.
