Majeka House is an undeniably unique property, found in the central Cape Winelands in the suburban areas of Stellenbosch. The hotel merges a variety of décor, textures and media, from handmade lighting fixtures to wood, steel, tile and mosaic, and overspills with character. But one of the features that makes Majeka House decidedly special is its discreteness. Largely hidden from the road, the hotel’s opulent interior is a pleasant surprise.
The hotel grounds provide a peaceful space for relaxation, removed from the noise of the town and the abundant garden is overflowing with rose creepers and cactuses, as well as a productive herb garden. This property offers all the conveniences of large 5-star hotels, but has the intimacy and matchless personality of a boutique hotel.
“It does not get much better than this, Majeka House really is the perfect boutique hotel."
Staying at the Majeka House
The rooms at Majeka House are diverse, each individually decorated to give a personal and handcrafted touch, including unique mural-style wallpapers on the ceilings. There is a decidedly nature-driven aesthetic, with textured wallpapers that include tree and flower prints. The rooms, in addition to their distinctive décor, are generously proportioned and have large, modern en-suite bathrooms.
Accommodation at Majeka is varied, with a choice of premier rooms, garden junior suites, pool suites, mountain view suites and a private villa.
The hotel has four pools, giving the assurance that there will not be overcrowding in pool areas. The heated indoor pool is especially lovely, with a retractable roof to accommodate all weather conditions. Mountain view rooms each have balconies complete with deck chairs, and offer far-reaching views of Table Mountain.

Restaurant and bar at Majeka House
The markedly individual style of the bedrooms is continued in the hotel’s Makaron restaurant. Featuring mismatched chairs and cutlery, handmade lights as well as an unusual “falling counter”, the restaurant also brings together a variety of styles in both its cuisine and environment.
The menu incorporates European, Asian and local flavours and ingredients, including ostrich and springbok. The mosaic tiles found on the outdoor dining area are made especially for Majeka and lend a particularly Mediterranean mood.
Leading off from the restaurant is a plush, enclosed cigar lounge, providing a comfortable space for smokers to relax.
Undoubtedly one of the hotel’s best features is its bar, MLounge. Appointed much like an antique library, the bar’s dark, rich colour scheme is almost palatial (helped a little by the grand piano). The bar offers excellent ranges of South African wine and a variety of cocktails amongst other choices.
