Babylonstoren is a stunning farm hotel located in the heart of the Cape Winelands in the Drakenstein Valley between Franschhoek and Paarl. Babylonstoren is a historic Cape Dutch farm that has been lovingly renovated, and the result is magnificent.
At Babylonstoren guests will be staying in either the manor house or in the charming 1 and 2 bedroom cottages. The accommodation at Babylonstoren is modern in style without losing the atmosphere of its historic farm setting.
“Babylonstoren is a really magical place, it is difficult to say what has been the highlights for us when staying here because it is all so perfect. The food at Babel does deserve a special mention"
The renovated, beautifully appointed cottages are spacious and contemporary, with large bedrooms and bathrooms leading out to a living room and dining area. Guests can enjoy drinks, tea and coffee in the bar and lounge, all included in the rate.
The pool at Babylonstoren is located in a water reservoir that has been beautifully converted into a very unique pool. Next to the pool lies a small spa and a well-equipped gym. Guests can also use the available bicycles on the farm to cycle around the area. The spa includes a Hammam and outdoor treatment room, with a tranquil and luxurious atmosphere.
The garden at Babylonstoren is something very unique and it is undoubtedly one of the largest of its kind in the world. The garden spans over eight acres and contains more than 300 different types of plants, all of which are edible. The garden at Babylonstoren is divided into 15 sections with vegetables, berries, fruits, indigenous plants, prickly pears as well as bees and ducks. Guests staying at Babylonstoren are welcome to go into the garden and pick their own fruit and vegetables. Make sure to take a guided tour of the garden when visiting Babylonstoren.
With such a wonderful supply of fresh produce it is little wonder that the restaurant at Babylonstoren can produce such exceptional meals. Breakfast is a real treat with fresh fruit and vegetable juices, muesli tarts with fruit (including avocado), yogurt and honey. You can of course also have a delicious hot breakfast.
Babel is only open for breakfast and lunch Tuesday and Thursday to Saturday, and be sure to book well in advance for lunch, especially over the weekend, as its fantastic menu and ambience are highly popular. On Mondays and Wednesdays the farm stall is open for pizza night and Sunday for Italian night.
