Shinde

Botswana Trip – Day 3 – Shinde

After a night of “roughing it” at Footsteps Camp, both Alexandra and I really felt that we had stepped into an ultra luxurious bush retreat when we arrived at Shinde.

Shinde is a tented camp offering guests the best of romantic bush luxury. If I were looking for a romantic safari honeymoon, Shinde would certainly be a top choice.

After a great lunch and some time to freshen up we decided that instead of going on game drive we would do some fishing as the Okavango Delta is know for great fishing. The weather was beautiful and together with our guides we headed out on a boat with an ice bucket full of drinks.

We found a beautiful spot to do some fishing and enjoy the amazing birdlife. I managed to hook the boat on quite a few occasions, but eventually I managed to catch a few fish. It was a great afternoon spent in a stunning environment and I would highly recommend it!

We got back to Shinde in time for drinks by the fire. The lodge staff did an amazing performance with singing and dancing whilst we sipped our pre-dinner drinks. Dinner at Shinde was a great 3-course meal.

At dinner our ranger suggested that we go out on a night drive as there were some lions in the area. So we ventured off on a drive but sadly we were unlucky in finding the lions. We did however see some hippos out of the water, and it got quite exciting as they started fighting with each other.

The following morning we woke up to the sound of rain hitting the roof of our tent. I quickly decided to stay in camp to enjoy the luxurious environment but Alexandra was still keen for a game drive.

In hindsight, due to the poor weather, I believe that I made the better choice to stay in camp and relax before the next stop on our trip to Kanana.
